GET-IT collaborates with HMBD to support establishment of IT Center for underprivileged youth

Bangladesh
GET-IT Co., Ltd., a Japanese ITAD/TPM service provider specialized on professional IT hardware, has, on 13th November 2021, contributed through a donation to Bangladeshi NGO “Health Management BD Foundation” (hereafter referred to as HMBD) in the establishment of IT Vocational Training Center, Dhaka, for underprivileged local youth.

In 2019, GET-IT has set “Sustainable Computing ®” as its corporate mission, and contributes to the circular economy of enterprise IT hardware through its IT asset disposition (ITAD) services and third-party maintenance (TPM) services. The company is also developing a variety of CSR activities using the SDGs framework for sustainable social development.

GET-IT has adopted the concept of Diversity & Inclusion and aims to be a company where employees with diverse backgrounds can play an active role, and provides internships and job opportunities not only in Japan but also for people from overseas.

In 2019, GET-IT began hiring Bangladeshi software engineers through a program called “B-JET” (Bangladesh-Japan ICT Engineers’ Training Program), operated as part of the technical cooperation project of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency). The company currently has four software engineers residing in Dhaka working remotely.

In close cooperation with the local Bangladeshi employees, GET-IT has conducted a donation to HMBD.

HMBD is a certified local NGO, engaging in various charitable and humanitarian activities such as medical care, sanitation, education, and disaster relief. GET-IT’s contribution will be utilized in the project of establishing IT Vocational Training Center in Abdullahpur, Uttara, Dhaka-1230.

The Center will be located in one of the most neglected, deprived and densely populated areas in the capital city. Children and young people are forced to prioritize earning an income over education, and many drop out of school at the primary and secondary levels. The high crime rate and drug addiction among those youth are issues that need to be addressed. In the coronavirus crisis living conditions of the underprivileged population is indescribable.

Through the establishment of the IT Vocational Training Center, HMBD aims to help such people acquire computer literacy and skills that can help them grab existing employment opportunities or create new ones in the present-day digital world.

As a company specialized in IT hardware, part of GET-IT’s donation will be used in the procurement and management of the IT devices to be installed in the IT Vocational Training Center.

Video Message from Dr. A. K. M. Taifur Rahman, HMBD

Thanks a lot, GET-IT, for this nice support to start HMBD IT Center.

I hope this support will help us, our underprivileged population, especially those who have dropped out from education and their work due to COVID-19 crisis and other financial crises.

We are planning to improve their IT skills through this support, and I hope, as Bangladesh is a densely populated country, we can make our population a true human resource.

I believe this collaboration and cooperation will increase day by day in the future.

Thank you.

HMBD Foundation
